My case seemed an easy Permanent Residence Application. Actually it was really complicated. I made aware of some problems in my record; so I was needed from an I-601 waiver and had to go through a long immigration process. All the time, ILHR guys were there for me. They were always up to take my calls or respond my emails. They answered to my questions diligently and soon, detailing every step of what I can expect in my process. It was overnight when ICE police came up to my apartment complex. We were not the only family that heard that something was happening outside. We heard women screaming and children crying. Few weeks earlier, I had received a pamphlet from a friend. It stated: “…If ICE comes to knock at our door, we do not have to open the door. They cannot come in without our consent, UNLESS they have a warrant, that most of the time they do not have. We need to exercise our right to remain silent. BUT WE HAVE TO SAY IT: ‘I am exercising my right to remain silent.’ We do not have to show them our IDs. We need to say that we refuse to provide any information without talking to an attorney first. Please take a picture of this flyer, have it at home. Also carry a picture or hard copy of it in case of getting arrested outside your home, and read it loudly.” I told my wife to hide her and our babies under the bed. I took the paper and read it loudly to the officers behind the door. After that incident, I got courage to call to the number in that pamphlet. Since then ILHR has got a TPS for my wife and me. After more than 20 years of living in fear, we finally found peace. ILHR made it possible; and I am deeply grateful on behalf of my family.

Mr. Ali Mohamed

I had to appear before a Judge and I was freaking out. It was the third time I tried it. I mean that I was seeking release from an immigration jail. I already had expended three years in there with an open humanitarian application process. They jailed me saying I was part of a group that actually kills kids who say not to them. I was mentally exhausted. Doctors had figured out I suffered from anxiety disorder and depression since a child. In Jail, the jailers were pretty aware of my health condition; however, they pushed me to a point that I tried to commit suicide twice. They hit me and I ended at the hospital. An investigation was opened. Nobody was found accountable yet. I was still incarcerated when COVID-19 pandemic came up. I saw many peers died because the detentions horrible conditions. So I was pretty nervous the date I was for third time before the judge looking for my freedom. I got free what for ILHR told me to do. I told the truth. ILHR supported it with strong evidence. Thank you!

Mr. Adegoke Musa

My family was in jeopardy. I then understood that we had to leave home and our beloved country. I had fought against the government corruption from different public functions. However, it was different. I had documents that could hurt the reputation of powerful men, and they already knew it. I had to watch my steps very carefully. I had no idea what to do. I didn’t know how to proceed to be able to fly to other country with not putting in jeopardy the safety of my family. I was lucky to hear about ILHR and contacted them. They took my case very confidentially and seriously. They planned our migration step by step. All that was done was to protect us. Finally once in the US, they submitted a large application package for asylum to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. It took 4 months for us to have work permits, and 8 month to be granted asylum. We then applied to permanent residence; and few years later we became citizens. From the beginning of our migration process, we feel companionship. An ILHR guy was there to alleviate the culture shock of being first generation of immigrants. We are thankful.

My children were going to college soon, and my wife and I thought it was better for them to get their higher education in America. As parents who are culturally tied to their family we just wanted to be close to our kids. I wondered about ways that could allow my family to live in America. The found out the right investment and occupation related to my experience, skills, and country. The process takes about 18 to 24 months. Afterward, we were able to get our green cards. My children were able to study as permanent residents which brought lots of saves in education. My wife and we were able to work from the beginning in our own business, provide for our family, and create jobs for Americans. Thanks ILHR.
